This is the kind of product you can't really tell if it's working for a long, long time, but I didn't use it for about a year and my drains started to flow very slowly. I had been using it regularly for about two or three years and had no problems, but kept forgetting to re-order and things slowed down.

I would not recommend it to open a drain unless you can wait a couple of weeks for the little bugs to do their job, but as a safe way to keep drains behaving it seems to be a good alternative.

Our plumber (Dallas TX) recommended the stuff several years ago after our kitchen-utility drains kept stopping up every few months. I started using the stuff right after the plumber cleared a stoppage and have not had to call the plumber since. I mix and pour it in on the first of the month every month into three locations: the washing machine drain, utility room drain and kitchen sink drain...all on the same side of the house. After 15 years of calling the plumber at least once a year to unclog the drains, we have not had to call for several years.

My bathtub drain clogged. After 15 days of treatment, the problem only got worse. This product might work for maintenance, but serious clogs will not be removed by this slow-acting product.
